Educational Facilities
To foster this educational excellence, professors teach courses by combining theory
with practice. They encourage students to step outside classrooms and practice their
knowledge in studios, laboratories, library and actual sites.
The Building Material Lab
The Building Material Lab helps students understand how to test and prepare
different materials for construction.
Survey equipment is available for training students to measure sites and buildings.
The Wood Workshop helps students to build models and furniture.
The Computer Lab is open all day for drawing, modeling and design.
The University Library has a special section for architecture with a distinguished
display of the latest leading periodicals in the field.
Design Studios Design
Design topics are tailored to current directions in the Egyptian and international
market. Students study sites as far as Sharm El Sheikh, Dakhla and Luxor to understand
the need for developing pristine locations into viable local and state economy.
In many instances, public officials and concerned developers are contacted to understand
their directions of development and put the students in contact with real solutions.
Meanwhile, every student is encouraged to express his/her own character in design.
The department is proud to have the only virtual studio technology in Egypt. With
such technology, students are able to establish video conferencing with other foreign
schools. MIU architecture students can work on a joint project with foreign schools
and have their work reviewed online by a set of international jury.
Different instruments and equipment are available for training students to measure
sound and light in different environments.
